MDRILL Dome USB mic gives either very poor sound quality or very long delay.
Using latest version of Jamulus with Mac OS 10.15.6
Have tried using Thru in Audio/MIDI set up but it makes no difference.
Initially, sound is very scratchy but delay is not noticeable. Gradually over about 10 secs, the quality improves but the delay increases so that it is useless with Jamulus.
Built-in mic works perfectly, but has omidirectional pickup. USB mic has cardiod pickup, which is what I want to use.

I have tried with GarageBand. You can force the initialisation of CoreAudio by using preferences to swap to Builtin mic and then swap to USB mic. Initially, there is no delay but the recorded input is very scratchy. If you persist with a recording the scratchy-ness gradually diminishes over about 2-3 secs so the recording is of acceptable quality. However there is now a delay of about 1/240 sec (about 1/2 beat at 120bpm). It seems to me that SOMEWHERE either in the hardware or the CoreAudio there is an algorithm that is trying to suppress external noise or other feedback that ends up by imposing a significant delay. There is no such problem if you use Built-in mic and monitor the output with a headset.
Have you bought the mic recently? If it's showing a problem like this and the manual says its compatible with your version of MacOS, then I'd consider returning it.

Hi David - is this just with Jamulus or is it with other apps too? Sounds like some werid driver problem perhaps.
