Shouldn't we include all bits in CR4 that relate to memory management? Briefly looked into libklib/kl_page_i386.c. I had added error checking to address translation code (mmap_virtop in libklib/arch/i386/kl_page.c), so that we don't return junk physical address if pgd/pmd/pte are bad. Didn't find this bit in your code. Any reasons for removing ? Do you feel such a check isn't needed any more ? > The question is how to detect whether the system is PAE-enabled or > not. > > Would be nice to have a flag or something in the i386 dump header > that could indicate whether the dump contains a PAE system or not. > Ok, we can turn on this flag while configuring arch-specific header. This flag can be set if the PAE bit in cr4 is set. Something like, if (read_cr4() & X86_CR4_PAE) dump_header_asm.flag = 1; Regards, Bharata. _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm _______________________________________________ lkcd-devel mailing list lkc...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/lkcd-devel |
