When i start lives from the command line, it open well but with this warning: "WARNING - this version of LiVES was compiled without jack support".
but jackd is detected ( only dvdgrab isn't detected)
So, i install "jack-audio-connection-kit" and "jack-audio-connection-kit-devel" packages and restart a compilation:
Should i use an option with ./configure to enable jack support ? ( the only option i used is --enable-OSC )
Fedora 8 X86_64 intel core quad
! update !
I've just applied ./configure (./compile doesn't work, it attempts an argument); make clean; make; make install and all it's OK:
"jack server started"
"Compiled with jack support, good !"
but I've always: "nm: /usr/lib64/libjack.so: no symbols"
I'm going to test to see if all is ok.
kind regards and thanks very much...
Do you have jack.h on your system ? If not, you need to install the development package for libjack.
BTW, since 0.9.8.6, --enable-OSC is no longer required, since OSC support is now built by default.
hello gfinch and thanks.
jack.h is present:
but, I don't know if I can re-compile several times without erasing previous binaries (in other words, can I re-launch the ./compile && make install, and the previous files will be re-writing)?
note: when i compiled lives 0.9.8.6 the first time, there was an error with OSC, so i decided to enable OSC the second time and it finishes correctly... strange.
It's always best to do ./compile; make clean; make; make install
If you do:
nm /usr/lib64/libjack.so | grep jack_get_client_name
do you see anything ?
nm: /usr/lib64/libjack.so: no symbols
I heve installed jack and libjack-dev (0.118+svn3796-1 ubuntu2) on
my Ubuntu Studio Lucid x64.
I'm configuring with command:
./configure --prefix=/opt/LiVES --exec-prefix=/opt/LiVES/bin --bindir=/opt/LiVES/bin --sbindir=/opt/LiVES/sbin --enable-jack --enable-jack-transport
I found in my system /usr/include/jack/jack.h, /usr/lib/libjack.so,
but have no /usr/lib64/libjack.so
But configuring tells me:
_You are compiling LiVES without jack (>= 0.100.0) support.
It is recommended that you install/upgrade libjack-devel
before compiling LiVES._
I found my mistake. The command must be just like this:
./configure --prefix=/opt/LiVES --exec-prefix=/opt/LiVES/bin --bindir=/opt/LiVES/bin --sbindir=/opt/LiVES/sbin

What should i install to get it ?
