This feature is not enabled in the config file. You can just override the default "unknown" with the dyncodes_name parameter.
The feature just generates a button name dynamically if lircd can decode a signal sucessfully but does not find a matching button in the config file. This can be quite useful for debugging a remote or you even don't have to record every button if you know which protocol is used.
Enabling dyncodes by default is probably not OK, since it would have side-effects in some setups.
Since we need to decrease the number of configuration options and related #ifdefs the option should be a runtime one. It's also a question of usability, to have to rebuild the system to use an option is not that nice.
