I've used a packard bell reciever with various revisions of redhat, suse, debian, and caldera (ugh). I found it wouldn't work right if the kernel serial port driver was loaded before the lirc serial driver was loaded. This can be a problem if you're using a distribution-supplied kernel because the serial driver is usually built into the kernel rather than built as a module. That may not be the case these days - not working with serial.o already loaded i mean - I haven't used the pb reciever in well over a year. If you're using the stock redhat 7.1 kernel this may be a good time to go read the kernel howto and learn how to roll your own. - Eric |
