remote is too sensitive upon updating to lirc-0.9.3

Upon updating to version 0.9.3, my streamzap remote[1] has become too sensitive.  For example, a key press is often echoed twice to applications or more simplistically, to /usr/bin/irw.  Under previous versions, it worked flawlessly.
I would prefer not to go through and regenerate my remote.conf so I'm wondering if someone knowledgeable here could review it [remote.conf] and suggest a tweak to attenuate the sensitivity.
