I got an irblaster (a serial transmitter) from http://www.irblaster.info to control a VCR from the PC. The VCR is a JVC HR-S29U, and the remote a JVC_LP20303-015. I put the configuration for JVC_LP20303-009 at http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/jvc/LP20303-009 into /etc/lirc/lircd.conf -- this is almost exactly my model remote. The irblaster has a LED that lights up when a command is sent, so I can see that the commands come through -- but the VCR isn't responding. I then added the configuration for JVC S7600U at http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/jvc/HR-S7600U into /etc/lirc/lircd.conf -- it's not the same model, but some of the commands are likely generic. No response from the VCR. Am I missing something? Should the configuration file for either the remote or the VCR work -- assuming it's the correct configuration? Since I don't have an IR receiver on my computer, just the transmitter, I don't see how I can capture the IR codes.
