I should have applied the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule here. I was using lirc0.7.1 with the patch for the USB-UIRT, which mostly worked. The only problems were that I couldn't transmit with it, which would be handy, and that every so often the USB-UIRT would go to sleep, and not even flash when you used a remote. After a while though, the device would start flashing erratically for a few seconds, then start working normally again for a few hours. I thought trying a new version might remedy this problem. I installed 0.8.1, but no dice doing cat /dev/lirc would respond with garbage when pressing remote keys, so at least I know it's seeing something. irrecord, however would go through the first part where you have to press random keys, but when actually learning keys, would say "Sorry, something went wrong" then "Try again". It would keep doing this no matter what you press. (awesomely informative error message btw) The remote is an hp media center remote. this one http://ruel.net/pc/pvrpix/mce-remote.jpg. I don't have the associated receiver, I bought it on its own from eBay. I've tried other remotes, and the same happens. The lircd.conf I generated for 0.7.1 doesn't work (should it?) Can anyone help, or offer any insight? -- No, no, you see the rules of language are purely arbitrary stodgy ivory-tower crap we doesn't have to worried aboard because everytime history on you rebendible sausage mountain. |
