Hi, I am using lirc with my MCE remote and it works great. I now want to merge= most of my remote functions onto this remote. Well maybe just the power o= f my home theater for starters. Heres is what i have. Fedora Core 6 MythTV .20 (latest) PVR-150MCE MCE Remote (mceusb drivers) Onkyo home theater receiver (forget the model ##) =20 Infocus 4805 Projector Xantech 291kit IR Repeater. (manual - http://www.xantech.com/products/i_fol= der/i_291kit.pdf) Any how this is what i would like to acomplish. To be able to push the power button on my MCE remote and have it turn on th= e projector and the reciever. Then when i push it again it turns off every= thing. I would like to connect my PC to the Xantech. I think this would b= e possible by using the connecting block and the serial port on my PC (corr= ect?). This woud be ideal because I would not need a IR Blaster but have t= he xantech do it. =20 Challenges I see would be controlling the onkyo. It has two differant buttons for pow= er. One for on and one for standby. Some scripting should be able to fix = this issue tho. =20 Also knowing that the codes for my exact components are on the lirc DB how = could I capture them? Take the reciever from the Xantech and connect that = to a serial and test that way maybe? Once I have powering up done adding new fuctions would be trivial. =20 When making the Serial to Xantech adapter would i just connect the DTR to t= he IR signal of the Xantech? Would I need any resistors? On the lirc page= they warned about too much load on the serial port and it could wear out. = Would i have this problem since the xantech has its own power source to re= plicate the signal. I was looking at www.irblaster.info and he sells pretty much what I have. = So it looks like it *should work* =20 Thanks for the help.
