lirc suddenly not starting

I've been running a mythtv box on Fedora Core 4 for about 6 months now.

It took a while to get the remote working. I'm using a USB-UIRT tranceiver
which needed a patch for lirc to work with it.

Once I got it working it worked flawlessly until now.

Now when you try to run lircd nothing happens.

when you do lircd -n you get "lircd 0.7.1: File size limit exceeded"

I have no idea what to do with this. If I knew what file it was talking
about, I might have more of a clue.

Can anyone help?
