creative infra receiver and universal remotes

I have my lircd configured to work with the silly little remote that 
came with the device, however, I am hoping to find a config file that 
will enable me to control my creative infra receiver with a common 
remote.  I have a programmable remote and I can fake most remotes.

If there is anything that uses the creative drivers that would be great.

Barring a solution like that, will going through the process of calling 
the creative a generic serial device and configuring it by hand work 
a-la kernel module?
