I *think* that you might not be able to use lirc with a USB to serial adapter. I recently had an IR project to do, and this is the first route that I took since my laptop had no serial port. However, after much flailing, I found the following quote on the lirc.org website: (http://lirc.org/faq.html) """ Can I use a home-brew LIRC receiver with a Serial to USB adapter? No, this won't work. But there is a project working on a dedicated USB transceiver <http://tusb3210.sourceforge.net>. Using an Irman with USB adapter should work though. """ I ended up using a PCMCIA serial adapter with a home-brew, then moving to an Irtrans (http://www.irtrans.de/en/). They have a great lircd interface, and I did not even have to change my lirc client calls. Hope this helps, ~james |
