Not exclusive access of event-devices?

Hello List,

i guess i realized that the event-driver of lirc wont get
exclusive access over one of the /dev/input/event<x>.
The drawback of not doing so is, that keystrokes will 
apear also in my terminals (besides mapping from lirc).

Is that wanted ?
