Just trying to set up lirc on a laptop (IBM thinkpad 600x) I have enabled the serial port and built a homebrew lirc serial receiver. I currently have a working mythtv box that I have verified all my hardware on (swapped serial receivers and IR detectors). That is not a problem. The issue is that when I record my lircd.conf file on the laptop, every file I make is recorded in RAW mode. When I try the same remote on my desktop mythbox (lirc-0.7.2) I get a normal lircd.conf file (not RAW mode) With the raw mode files I get some responses when running irw on the laptop but its very hit and miss for responses. When I try the same remote on the desktop I get instant recognition. Is there a way to troubleshoot why the RAW mode is always triggered on my laptop as opposed to the desktop. I am not running the -f more of irrecord to force raw mode, it always seems to default to that. The rpm I am using is from atrpms via yum. I also tried using the bundled 0.8CVS lirc version when mythtv is installed but that gave the same response. I can verify that the serial receiver is getting information by using xmode2 and mode2, they both show plenty of activity when the buttons are pressed. Any help or pointers would be helpful.
