I am in the process of making a mythTV box on Gentoo using a stock 2.6.2
kernel patched with the pcHDTV patch
(ftp://ftp.sonic.net/pub/users/ulmo/262/diff_draft_3g.bz2) and the
Flameeye's lirc for 2.6 patch
I only get one reject from the lirc patch for a Kconfig. It doesn't
appear to be significant.
After attempting to find all that I can on using lirc under 2.6.2, I
thought I had everything I needed to get this to work. Unfortunately,
I've not gotten anything to work so far (except under Windows).
I've compiled the lirc_serial and lirc_dev modules and it doesn't complain
when I load them (whether or not I've got the IRA attached). I even
attempted to specify the port parameters using insmod (insmod lirc_serial
io=0x3f8 irq=4) with no discernable difference. Here's the dmesg I get
whe I load lirc_serial (and lirc_dev).
lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, at major 61
lirc_serial: auto-detected active high receiver
lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin:sample_rate: 0
Since I haven't gotten any complaints about the kernel modules not
loading, I decided to go ahead and try to get irrecord to give me
root # irrecord -d /dev/lirc/lirc0 -H irman junk.out
irrecord - application for recording IR-codes for usage with lirc
Copyright (C) 1998,1999 Christoph Bartelmus(lirc@...)
irrecord: readlink() failed for "irman"
irrecord: No such file or directory
irrecord: could not create lock files
irrecord: could not init hardware (lircd running ? --> close it, check
Doing an strace, it wants to open a file "irman" that it can't find.
I've been beating my head against this for a few days without any apparent
success. Can anyone provide me with a pointer?
