Hi I recently purchased an HTPC by Jetway (JBC231C98-525). This is the Ion-Top, ie not so tiny mini-ITX box with an optical drive and a remote, *not* the Mini top. It has an Atom D525 and a Nvidia Ion2 GPU and uses Jetway's NC98-525E-LF motherboard. This PC is shipped with a remote, that I'm trying to use under Ubuntu 10.04, 64 bits. Thus I'm looking for some lirc support. I first tried to use Nuvoton's driver. That trick apparently worked on a previous generation of Ion-Top (the one with the Atom 330). I installed lirc-nct677x-x64-1.1.0-ubuntu10.10-kernel2.6.35.deb and lirc-nct677x-src-1.1.0-ubuntu10.10.deb on top of lirc but didn't get any output when running irw. Then, Jetway's Tech Support advised me to update my Linux Kernel to 2.6.36. so that it can support Fintek's F71809 CIR device. I've then installed that kernel, but am a little stuck now: - Googling F71809 didn't give me any results, nor any hint about 2.6.36 supporting it - I don't know what lirc option I should use with that device. Its on the TODO list, but there are quite a few other things also on the list -- mainly ironing out bugs in drivers for hardware already in widespread use -- which are of higher priority right now. Since you seem to have the datasheet, do you confirm that Jetway has changed its IR device between their two Ion-Top boxes (Atom D525 vs. 330)? I understand that both systems work together in making my IR remote work (ultimately). But I'm still a little confused on each system's role and features. My confusion might come from reading many threads on people adding modules to their kernel (like the Nuvoton module that apparently worked for older Jetway Ion-Top), but not modifying anything in lirc.
