i feel a little silly but a friend of mine gave me this remote years
ago. i upgraded from a desktop to a laptop and lost the availibility
of a serial port so the remote's been sitting in a drawer for a really
long time now. i recently actually found and restored an Athlon 600
behind my work which has serial ports on it, so the remote might yet
again serve some purpose, however i have no idea what type of remote
it was. i was using it under windows before but i can't even remember
the name of the application i was using to pull that off.
all i know about it is that it's kind of old and that someone like
compaq or gateway used to ship these with some computer of theirs,
back before the media center thing really caught on...i'm not even
sure XP MCE had come out yet, but it may have.
a new linux project is always fun and i thought this would be
something interesting to try to get working. being as i have no clue
what type of remote i actually have, though, i feel it might be better
just to put it back in the drawer from whence it came if someone can't
i've uploaded a picture of the remote to:
please let me know if you can provide any information that might help
me answer this question or if you need a better picture. also, feel
free to just leave me a comment on the flickr page as opposed to
replying to this as you'll be right there anway. but i mean, the list
is fine as well.
