I'm trying to build a parallel reciever and was intrigued by the "smarter"
interupt driven approach. Is there a known implementation of this?
I'm in the prosess of picking parts, and would appreciate any input on
what microcontroller to choose. I've been considering the PIC12F and HC08
I'll probably have to add interrupt support to the lirc_parallel driver
too (could only find code for polling in the source). Any help/input here
would also be appreciated.

The lirc_parallel driver *is* interrupt driven. It is only polling to
get the falling edge of the incomming signal because the parallel port
hardware only is able to generate interrupts on the rising edge of the
