Using this wonderful guide and drivers (http://www.grangenet.net/~greg/streamzap.html) I was able to get my streamzap working under 2.6 kernels (FC3). It had been working wonderfully under 2.4, no complaints. However, under 2.6, and these drivers.. I'm getting what I could best call a queueing problem. LIke so: Hit key --- nothing reported in IRW Hit key --- two key presses reported in IRW I see the little red light on the USB reciever flash for EACH keypress, so I KNOW It's getting to the machine. I'm sure this is an easy fix... Any ideas? |

Ok, downloaded and compiled and installed.. No diff.. it takes 2-3 key presses to get through.. Again I DO see the red light flicker on the USB reciever each time I hit the key. This is the part where I answer my own question. irrecord detected too many "bits" making a correct match a random thing. Use the conf in the lirc/remotes/streamzap directory, and be a happy person.. Here's what my old config had: bits 14 here's what the included one had: bits 6 once I got the debug turned up high enough I could see things like this: 00000000000028d4 00 Down Streamzap 00000000000038d4 00 Down Streamzap which told me it was checking bits it didn't need to.. Dropped down to 6, and it's working like it used to be.. Guess I should have just used the one included with the source in the first place.. |

The number of bits has nothing to do with it. It's the same in both config files. The signal timing is the difference. Christoph |

The fault was not your config file, it was mine. The config file that irrecord built was for a 13 or 14 bit number. The StreamZap uses 6 bit number, which is reflected properly in any of the config files I've ever gotten via CVS. the results coming from lircd when it was set for 13 or 14 bit number had bits toggling (interference maybe) that had nothing to do with the streamzap. As soon as I had the bitmask right, it works like a CHARM.
