Hi,=20 I have a MSI K7T Pro2 (MS-6330) Motherboard with an internal irda conne= ctor. According to the manual it supports SIR/CIR/ASKIR/HPSIR. With a quick search I couldn't find clear information which adapters ar= e compatible with the motherboard. I think Actisys IR210L is (they don't mention my exact motherboard but other MSI ones), but how about the Asu= s IRM-100 which seems to be cheap and readily available? Is that only for= Asus motherboards or are the connectors standardized? Then the more important question: Should I expect problems trying to ge= t that sort of combination to work with lirc?=20 Some people have reported negative experiences with IR210L on the list = when trying to use lirc-sir. If I've understood correctly my motherboard sho= uld be able to do Consumer IR too. Does that resolve the problem? Does CIR/= ASKIR require special support from the adapter too or is the capability just dependent on the motherboard model? My other option is to build/buy a serial port receiver.=20 AJT --=20 Arto Ter=E4s --- See http://www.iki.fi/ajt/ for contact info |

That the =20 hardware supports it does not mean that the software does. Currently LIRC= =20 only supports one chipset. Also for real CIR support your adapter would =20 have to support it too as IrDA and CIR use different wavelengths. > My other option is to build/buy a serial port receiver. I recommend this over the IrDA solution. Christoph |
