Hi there, I'm trying to get LIRC with a Tekram 210b serial Dongle up and running, configured it for the right serial port, and it compiles. When I insert the lirc_serial module, it logs: lirc_serial: in calc_pulse_lengths_in_clocks, freq=38000, duty_cycle=50, clk/jiffy=13238272, pulse=17418, space=17419, conv_us_to_clocks=1323 lirc_serial: auto-detected active high receiver But neither mode2 nor irrecord seem to recieve any signals from different remotes. (Dongel works with M$) I think I missed to set up something, but I don't know where to start. Then I'm getting confused with kernel IRDA support. How does it interact with lirc (does it at all / Do I need it?). Could any of you guys give me a tip, what to look for, or what I might have missed? Thank you, Lars |

Did you select the wrong driver in configure? In configure, try: 3. Other serial port device Select Tekram Irmate 210 After install, it is the lirc_sir driver which should be loading. If you get it working, I'd be interested in knowing how far away a remote control works from it. The sir driver is interesting because it approximates IR control using IRDA hardware. IRDA hardware is not designed to do IR control signals, but the lirc_sir driver uses it as best it can to obtain IR control readings. Has anyone tried adding a custom receiver or transmitter to the less than useful IRDA header on a newer motherboard. It's funny how new motherboards have this, but the actual cable/driver assemblies seem to be unavailable. My guess is that its just logical CMOS/TTY interface and the cable must add the drivers and receivers. I'm going to scope these out if I find a chance. Karl. Hello, that was the thing I missed, I thought the default (serial) would be fine and I didn't go deeper into that menu. It works now, and it's realy "cool" :) And I stopped mixing it up with IRDA support and utils. The device is able to recieve signals from my "Telefunken IRC" (this one lacks a proper name on it:) remote within 3 meters, at daylight and in a dark room. The Orion RC-72 stops working after 1.5 meters. I'm going to try more of them ... Thank you very much, Lars > Did you select the wrong driver in configure? > In configure, try: > 3.
