I have a box that I'd like to add a parallel port reciever to.
Primarily because it has no serial ports, and there's no easy way to add
one. (There's a SuperIO chip on board with two UARTs, but the serial
line drivers are not implemented, and it's not clear what part they
I've looked at the schematic on the lirc.org site, and I'm a bit
intimidated by it. Especially the part where it says not to expect it to
While I'm not a complete moron with regard to electronics, my training
and experience is pretty limited. I'm not even 100% certian that i
understand the parts list.
Does anybody have or know where i can get a simpler design? or a better
explanation of the design that's already available?
mode2 is blocked on line :
read(fd,&data,sizeofdata)); //where fd =open("/dev/lirc",O_RDONLY);
why? what does it mean ?
I am using a receiver on the parallel port. The hardware is working
properly. My remote control too. (I have tested with a little program that
read the bits of the parallel port, the timer and the signal work properly)
When inserting the module lirc_parallel, there is no problems and it detects
Is it a problem of irq ? When a irq is raised ? At each low to high
transition of the signal or of the timer ? Or never ? Which function is
started when an irq is raised ?
PS: Sorry for my poor english...
