As it's been reported before, some symbols and global functions were
removed from the 2.6.22 kernel:
Of course these changes broke my config (Lifeview FlyVideo 98FM LR50
which needs lirc_gpio).
First I tried a solution suggested by a nice guy on Arch Linux bug
The idea was to use /dev/input directly, unfortunately It didn't work,
so I've decided to revert the changes and using git web interface I've
generated a patch with the changes:
then applied it with the -R option, so the missing symbols/functions
were added again (I've used Arch's ABS/PKGBUILD to build the kernel so
no other modules needed to be recompiled), but also I had to add the
package with the kernel and all depending modules to the list of the
hold packages, which is not what I'm happy with.
Could you please advice what will happen next? Will lirc_gpio simply be
removed as non functional and not supported? Maybe there is some other
way to use my remote without lirc_gpio?
