I have a Toshiba Satellite 1805-S274 with a SMC-IRCC built-in infrared port. By default this port was hidden but with the help of the following website, I was
able to load the smc-ircc.o module that is included with the 2.4.21 kernel
Then I configured lirc-0.6.6 as follows:
I ran ./configure and selected (1) Driver configuration (driver:sir io:0x2e8
After doing make && make install, I chmod 666 /dev/lircd. I modified my
/etc/modules.conf as follows:
options smc-ircc ircc_dma=3 ircc_irq=7 ircc_cfg=0x2e ircc_sir=0x2e8
pre-install smc-ircc /home/apparatus/bin/toshsat1800-irdasetup
alias char-major-61 lirc_sir
options lirc_src io=0x2e8 irq=7
Then I ran a depmod -a, restarted lircd, copied the rca/TV_VCR file to
/etc/lircd.conf and tried to read data with irw. No data received. So I tried
to create a custom lircd.conf file with irrecord. However, again nothing
received from the RCA tv remote. This remote is the only infrared device I
have, other than a Seimens S40 cell phone (that I have not tried).
I have a feeling that lirc needs to be using the smc-ircc module, not the
lirc_sir, or that it shouldn't be using sir mode. It looks like the smc-ircc
and the lirc_sir module are using the same resources since they cannot be loaded
at the same time.
Does anyone have any ideas why my infrared port cannot detect signals from the
tv remote or how to fix this problem?
