I have an EPIA C3/800 mobo. I had previously bought a
serial receiver from Zapway for another computer, and
thought I would buy the serial receiver they made
specially for the EPIA boards.
I compiled my own kernel, making the serial driver a
module. I then compiled LIRC with the serial driver.
Everything seems to load correctly.
However, 'irrecord' does not seem to recognize
anything coming from my remote, nor does 'irw' work
when I copy over my 'lircd.conf' for my remote from my
I did test this serial receiver on my other machine,
and it works fine.
Here is the output when I modprobe my 'serial' driver
# modprobe serial
Serial driver version 5.05c (2001-07-08) with
MANY_PORTS SHARE_IRQ SERIAL_PCI enabled
ttyS03 at 0x02e8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
And here is the output when I modprobe 'lirc_serial':
# modprobe lirc_serial
lirc_serial: auto-detected active low receiver
'/dev/lirc' is not a symlink to '/dev/ttyS0', but when
running 'lircd' with '--nodaemon', it does recognize
that a client has connected when I run 'irw'.
Do these serial receivers work, or can someone
recommend another receiver that will definately, for
sure work with these boards? I was looking at the
'irman' from Evation which seem to be fairly popular:
I appreciate your help and advice.
