I am a debian user. I have found 2 packages in debian
I really can't understand why lirc-module-....... is required and what is the
advantage to use it & whether should I use both of this ?
If any Debian/non-debian user has already implemented lirc-module....... then
PLEASE help me to answer my questions.
thanks in advance for ur kind help.

The lirc package contains the lirc programs and configuration.
The lirc-module-source package contains the lirc kernel module source.
If you are using the homebrew receiver and/or transmitter, you need both.
Other hardware may or may not require the lirc kernel modules.
Read the documentation, starting with /usr/share/doc/lirc/README.Debian
