I recently bought an IR receiver from http://www.pcinfrared.co.uk/
It uses an SFH56 receiver. I know it works under windows using Girder and the
Igor SFH56 plugin.
When attempting to make it work under linux I am unable to receive any
signals. I get no output using mode2
I modprobe serial and lirc_serial (I think that is the correct driver). The
relevant dmesg section is below.
Serial driver version 5.05c (2001-07-08) with MANY_PORTS SHARE_IRQ SERIAL_PCI
ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
ttyS01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
lirc_serial: port 03f8 already in use, proceeding anyway
lirc_serial: compile the serial port driver as module and
lirc_serial: make sure this module is loaded first
lirc_serial: in calc_pulse_lengths_in_clocks, freq=38000, duty_cycle=50,
clk/jiffy=13893632, pulse=18281, space=18281, conv_us_to_clocks=1389
lirc_serial: auto-detected active high receiver
If anyone can point me in the right direction in setting the receiver up
properly it would be much appreciated.

Configure the lirc_serial module for the IRdeo device. I think it uses the
same pin for the signal.
