Hi there, just got my home-brew irman built, works great and fits in an old film canister with a few strategically placed holes! The breakout-box came in handy as always.. The xmms plugin needs me to feed it a 'echo IR > /dev/ttyS0' for it to init though, which is weird as it sets the RTS/DTR properly, but a little script to ping that out a few seconds after xmms starts does the trick. Anyhow, if it's worth anything, here are the control codes it puts out as it wasn't listed in the driver database.. (I take it that since the remote passes through the irman, it won't be of much use for the direct to serial port flavors, but thought I'd share) From irman.conf: # codes for Sony RM-DM11 Remote Control (D-828K Car Discman) bind sony-cd-play d7f7d7f7d7f7 bind sony-cd-stop 1df71df71df7 bind sony-cd-prev 0df600000000 bind sony-cd-next 8df78df78df6 bind sony-cd-fwd 2df72df72df7 bind sony-cd-rew cdf7cdf7cdf7 bind sony-cd-surround 1bf71bf71bf7 bind sony-cd-dsigproc bbf7bbf7bbf7 bind sony-cd-vol+ 49f600000000 bind sony-cd-vol- c9f7c9f7c9f7 note: 'fwd' and 'rew' are accessed by holding down 'prev' and 'next' a bit longer. dsigproc is Digital Signal Processing, ie Bass Boost, Bass Boost+, Vocal, Car eq. mode button. .,.,.,.,.,.,.,..,..,,.., irman Q: when learning these codes, I noticed that while some buttons (eg Play) were rock solid, some of the other button's (eg Vol-) return codes fluctuated quite a bit, and only hit the 'correct' code about 60% of the time. => is this normal? I assume it's just too close to the edge of a threshold and sometimes falls one way, and sometimes the other, and not a snafu with resistor values etc. ? I should deflux my board I suppose. Cable is only 1 meter long, so I didn't bother tying down the shielding. ==> It seems to always fall on either one of three different values. Can I just make three entries in the irman.conf/lircd.conf file binding the same 'event' to the three diff't raw codes to cover all possibilities? or will this make lirc choke? regards |

There won't be any problems with lircd and the Irman. With other hardware you won't be able to send some codes but that's not relevant for the Irman anyway. Christoph |
