Dear LIRC-list menbers:
I picked up a Logitech infrared remote control at a recent computer
show. This one was branded NEC but looks like the ones I have found with
search engines that are branded AST. I also understand that they were sold
under the Packard Bell brand too.
I tried to use the remote, with LIRC, on my Dell laptop in FIR
mode. But I was not successful. The Logitech remote also came with
a small PC board with a receiver-transmitter on it. The board has 5 pins,
in a 4-space-1 configuration. I think the board can be connected to a serial
port. Can someone please tell me what the pin ordering is? I expect something
like: IR data out, GND, IR data in, Signal and power. How does one hook this
up to a 9 pin serial port? Would the device also work if I connected it to
the interal IR pins on a motherboard?
Thanks for any advice you can provide
