I was just about to post and ask if there is way to test my serial
ports. My IR reciever works well apart from a remote to hitachi tv.
But I can't get anything out of my transmitter and wondered if i've
damaged it in some way. I built a simple transmitter first and sent
something. I saw the led light up (through a web cam) the first time
and have seem nothing since. I've now built an 'Improved transmitter'
and still nothing.
I've stuck a meter between GND and RTS and it starts at about -11.5V
with the computer boots and changes to -15V when I modprobe lirc_serial.
Thinking about it I think it is an old ASUS board. do some board behave
that differently then?
