I'm having trouble getting lirc to install and work properly. I have expanded
and compiled the code br running configure, make, then make install. After a
long search to find instructions beyond the INSTALL file I found the html docs
which explained running the init script. I'm running redhat 8.0 and so ran
lirc.redhat start. THere I get the error can not find file, file does not exist.
By editing the init script I narrowed the problem down to the line "daemon
lircmd" For some reason, a file this looks for is not there. I don't know how to
get any more info than that. If I comment out that line lircd starts fine, but I
have to cp the lirc file from /usr/local/sbin to /etc ??? At this point I tried
to run mode2 and get the error "This program is only intended for receivers
supporting the pulse/space layer.
Note that this is no error, but this program simply makes no sense for your
