Hi all. I have had success at home with 3 remotes working great but I cannot
get them to work on my friends machine. Here is what I have done on both
Redhat 7.1 with 2.4.2-2 kernel upgraded to 2.4.3 from kernel.org
I am using a sharp IS1U60 device.
On my AMD machine I have successfully set up a Yamaha remote, creative
credit card remote and a Panasonic VCR remote. All work fine. I took the
receiver to my friends house for Christmas and recompiled his kernel
(breaking his ADSL connection in the process oops!) and the remotes don't
on his machine mode2 gives me the usual stuff and when I create a config
file with irrecord I get the message "found correct length" and I go through
naming buttons and it all seems correct but when I test it with irw I get no
recognition of the buttons.
Here is a snippet of the conf file that irrecord created at my friends house
repeat 0 0
91 4377 62 1727 57 3522
57 2623 66 1719 66 2621
56 3523 59 2619 70
Clearly this is incomplete and totally different to the conf file that works
at my house.
I downloaded a conf file for my creative remote and that didn't work either
and yet it works at my house so it is not down to the conf file.
So where should I start looking. What information do I need to supply to get
further. Should I look into how LIRCD is compiled or should I be suspicious
of his serial port? He has a cheapish Patriot machine running Linux. Can

I suspect it's a hardware problem. The pulses are way too short than
usual. Check the voltage at the IR receiver. The IS1U60 is known to
require more current than comparable receiver ICs.
