Hi! I try to install lirc to use the remote of my hauppauge-TV-card. SuSE7.0 kernel 2.2.16 lirc 0.6.2 unfortunately i get compile errors in the lirc_dev - module. I allready tried a new kernel (2.4.0-test11) where it seems to compile without errors, but i have lot's of other problems and want do stay with 2.2.x for a while. Any Help? Any Ideas? make[5]: Entering directory `/root/source/lirc-0.6.2/drivers/lirc_dev' gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=686 -DMODULE -DMODVERSIONS -include /usr/src/linux/include/linux/modversions.h -DIRCTL_DEV_MAJOR=61 -DEXPORT_SYMTAB -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../.. -c -o lirc_dev.o lirc_dev.c lirc_dev.c:312: macro `devfs_register' used with only 8 args lirc_dev.c:634: warning: preprocessing directive not recognized within macro arglirc_dev.c:628: unterminated `#else' conditional lirc_dev.c: In function `lirc_dev_init': lirc_dev.c:632: undefined or invalid # directive make[5]: *** [lirc_dev.o] Error 1 make[5]: Leaving directory `/root/source/lirc-0.6.2/drivers/lirc_dev' Worf |

I've just upgraded my MB from an Intel LX to an Intel BX. Also I added a second processor. 2x 400Mhz Since then I've recompiled the kernel and added SMP support, made sure that modules are loadable and that the serial ports are loadable drivers, but lirc no longer works. I've tested my hardware on another machine and all is well. I get no error messages at all. I've ran mode2 and get no response whatsoever. Any ideas? Craig |

I'm using a realmagic receiver and it work with my laptop and with one of my desktop machines. This desktop has an additional IO card for the receiver. When I connect the receiver to two other desktop (one is SMP) the reciever dosen't work (onboard serials). Dosen't work means the receiver gets power when a lirc application is running an the led indicating receiving blinks but the lircd gets no input. The same behavior can be procuced with a very simple test programm I wrote. When I measure the voltage on the receive pin I can see negative values for the laptop and the desktop with IO crad when the receiver gets no IR signal. The two desktop where the receiver dosen't work have a small but positive voltage in this case. I assume this is the real reason. Due to the fact that the two desktops (especial the one wehre the tv card lives in) has no free solt I can't put the IO card in the system to solve the problem. I tought about running lird on the other system where it works and get the signal output via network pipe to the system with the tv card... only idea in the moment. Stefan |
