Hey folks.

   I am trying to get a second instance of lirc to work and i have had some trouble, so here i am. i have done this before on previous system with little to no trouble but in those cases the mother board had two onboard serial ports and it seemed to be easy in comparison to getting a second instance working with a PCI card based serial port. in any event what i am trying to do is get two transmitters working so that i can controll my two satellite receivers. with the privious system i used a script that modified a lirc source tree to change the name and major number. this worked well but in the new system when i tried loading the 'remote_serial' module, ether the system hung or the module listind in /proc/modules as loading and never changes.

   here is what i can tell you about the second port (and card). it is a StarTech pci1s550 card. ijhave tried moving it to another pci slote with no effect. i have tried to recompile the module several different times.

Pleas help i am stuck ith only one receiver until i get this fixed and the WAF factor on the PVR is going down!!
