Experimenters with a Linux 2.2.X or 2.4.X Linux Kernel box and one of the following USB-MIDI devices.
Roland PC300, SC8820, SC8850, or SC-D70.
Midiman MIDISport 1x1, 2x2, 4x4, or 8x8/s.
Opcode midiport
eMagic MT4
Steinberg USB-2-MIDI AV USB
Remember:
A bad kernel driver may cause LINUX to crash. Do not test on a system that you need.
Goal:
Test the VERY experimental kernel device driver at http://member.nifty.ne.jp/Breeze/softwares/unix/usbmidi-e.html
and report to richardpenner@home.com
the following:
1) What is the Manufacturer and model of the device?
2) Did the driver recognize the device (Check /var/log/messages) ?
3) If you have suitable equipment, does it function as an input device?
4) Does it function as an output device?
5) If you can identify the device in the /proc/bus/usb file tree, type "od -t x1 <device ID>" and send results to me.
Example: od -t x1 /proc/bus/usb/001/002
6) Send me a copy of /proc/bus/usb/devices and /proc/bus/usb/drivers
