I'm experiencing the same problems as Masahiro-san as well, though I don't get reboots, just a hanging system. I'm working on a custom SH7751 based platform that works fine with the 2.4.5 kernel sources. The latest kernel will hang just as init starts running. I don't think it is specific to your board, I think there is a more generic problem here.
