He also said that he would help press > HP for information if I needed it. Wow, really? I contacted HP about my Jornada 430 about nine months ago and they basically said, "Fuggeddaboudit." If Mr. Perens can get us hardware documentation for these beasties, progress can be made! Incidentally, re. the display issue, the display controller on the J430 is off the shelf, and data about it is available. The sticky part with the 430 is that there's at least one proprietary HP chip for which I have not found any documentation. It's labelled "112585 9904KU203".
