I have no idea, but it must be a compiler problem. Basically the current
stable compiler for SH is 20001120 version of gcc-2.9.7 + patches.
You can get them from http://www.m17n.org/linux-sh/.

Yes. I recommend glibc-2.2.2. It doesn't need any patches, as I know.
