I hear that xterm triggers binutils's bug. Kaz Kojima's latest patch may fix this problem. Please check http://dodo.nurs.or.jp/~kkojima/index.html/temporary-README-new-toolchain If you update binutils, you should rebuild gcc with new binutils glibc-2.2, and then all other shared libraries in this order.
