  Firstly, some small tweaks to get newlib to compile,
mostly to do with ELF symbol underscore prefixing
IIRC.  Secondly, a tweak to gcc's specs file to get
gcc to tell the linker the right crt files.

  The actual changes were not large, the effort
went into figuring out exactly how to make them.
