Hello,
The last week has seen a rash of people being confused by
problems with the build tools, such as binutils and gcc.
We now have a standard 2.3.x kernel version, and an easy way
to get it. This is great, and I think is really helping
solve the problems that both new people and the old hands
were having.
But I think not having a similar arrangement for the build
tools is really hurting us. It must be so frustrating for
these people to have a problem and have to stop what they're
doing.
Greg and I would really like to finalise the CVS versions
of binutils, gcc-core and gdb this weekend. Our goal is
for these versions to be the definitive versions by the end
of the weekend. The website will point to these
versions, and we can direct people having problems in
the future to this.
So if you have changes that need to be made to any of these
tools in CVS so they work well, PLEASE send them to me as
soon as possible, so we can integrate and test them (and fix
as necessary)
(Niibe-san, I already have your patch to gcc-core - I'm about
to check it in...)
Regards,
Mitch.
