I'm not entirely sure how your second statement is in any way related to
the question. Gentoo with uClibc on SH4 builds and runs udev just fine,
there aren't any patches that I know of. If you have a particular build
problem, I suggest reporting it.

This is too vague to really be able to do anything with. Please provide
specific output of what the problem is, including debug messages from the
kernel side. If the firmware stopped loading with the sound driver and it
worked before, then you should first verify that it continues to work
with older kernels and that it's not a kernel regression. If it is, then
that's something that should be fixed. If it's just a problem with your
userspace, that's another matter entirely.

I'm confused, didn't you already have this working? The interface for
this hasn't changed. Either fix your userspace or provide more specific
details as to what the problem is.
