Sorry for being so stubborn, but I'm not sure I understand when the 
second case adds any realism?

I have done measurements with GS 2.5, and if they are correct, the 
cancel_release is done in the sustain pedal case (if "Piano release 
mode" is on), but not in the retrigger case.
