I'm a big fan of MIDI activity information on each instance. Is the 
block receiving events, retransmitting events, etc., things like that. 
Nothing more than a single red light is a big help and usually enough to 
  show what's going on. In the case of LS possibly some clear indication 
of what MIDI channel each instance is using would also be good. That's 
pretty static and could be in the LCD.
