Will it be? :) > Well, no, actually I winked. It's sort of unlikely that I'll actually use either the volume or the pan. I drive GSt audio into Pro Tools and I do volume and panning automation there. I do think that someone doing a little bit of music in Rosegarden might want to set up a stereo space though, and to that extent panning would be nice in LS since audio handling in RG is not that strong yet. However, I'd guess someone using Ardour would likely pan within that tool. Please note, however, that most GSt instruments are sort of weird in their use of stereo. For pianos the sound space is generally like your sitting at the piano bench. You hear low notes on the left, high notes on the right. This is fine if you're just using GSt as a replacement for playing the piano, but it's not what a piano sounds like in a mix. Generally I have to take the stereo output of GSt and minimize ot to almost a mono signal (in terms of left-right) so that I can place it properly in a mix. Hope this helps, Mark |
