Not at the moment, but might be added later. I don't see a big need for this 
at the moment. Rui planned to write a C library first being just a wrapper 
for the protcol, but that lib might be extended later with a shared memory 
access method internally (in case frontend and LS are running on the same 
host) without modifying the interface of the lib.
