It seems that those streams that weren't finished just in time remain waiting 
to be picked up by a voice. So the number of available streams gets smaller 
and smaller. Should be easy to fix it.

Nope, I don't really think it has to do something with my changes. Mark, have 
you removed the sources and tried a clean new checkout? Perhaps you just 
messed up something accidently. If a clean checkout doesn't solve it, you can 
checkout the old version by:

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:ano...@cv...:/home/schropp/linuxsampler 
-D 15-Nov-03 co linuxsampler

(one line of course)
