If you had a MIDI processor with scripting support, etc. You could create little filters and actuators and save them along with a project which could then be loaded at a later date. I don't think we need to worry about supporting every single feature in a patch format (at least when it comes to MIDI processing). Having a Linux Audio/Music session format/standard would be cool.
