I can adapt the cmake files to build for other systems now if you'd 
like. This means I'll have to duplicate what's in the configure files. 
If that's ok by you, I don't mind putting some effort into it. Give me a 
list of what's done in configure and I'll replicate it in cmake. I know 
for starters I have to configure the .in files. I can test on ubuntu and 
gentoo, if you have other distros to test on that would be handy.
