I just stumbled over Miroslav's recent article. http://rhelblog.redhat.com/2016/07/20/combining-ptp-with-ntp-to-get-the-best-of-both-worlds/ It gives a thorough treatment of NTP and PTP. Nice work! (Now I know what the timemaster is good for ;) Regarding redundancy (resiliency) using PTP, I have been giving it some thought recently. There are different possibilities out there, for example operating in two or more domains, using the alternate master option, or even running under HSR/PRP. The new TSN protocol is also going to address redundancy, IIRC. So I think we will add redundancy to linuxptp, but I don't know which flavor(s) it will be. I am taking a "wait and see" approach. In the mean time, if anyone want to take on this issue, please go right ahead... Thanks, Richard |
